Brush up on the essentials of recycling! Do your part in protecting our environment by recycling at your Fergus apartment. Find more information in today’s post, compiled by the blog team at our preferred property management company, Williams and McDaniel.
Look for the blue
Recycling in Wellington County is relatively simple. Keep an eye out for a blue bin. These specially coloured containers are for recycling only. They are collected weekly in city limits and bi-weekly in less populated areas. Items that can be recycled include flattened cardboard, paper of all types, aluminum, tin, glass and plastic bottles, jugs and tubs.
Watch the waste
Not everything can be recycled. Some household items, such as fluorescent light bulbs, everyday batteries or aerosol cans, require special disposal. Electronics, including computers, printers and phones also require special disposal. You can safely recycle these items at one of five waste facilities located in Wellington County near your Fergus apartment.
An easy opportunity to recycle
These centres also hold special event days to encourage residents to recycle these products properly. The next nearby event day will take place on September 12th at the Aberfoyle Roads Garage (7396 Wellington Road 34). Drop off your hazardous waste here between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. The garage is about a ten-minute drive from the Executive Suites at 338 Gordon Street.
Give to those in need
Before you throw something out, even for recycling, ask yourself whether it might be useful to someone else. Gently used clothes, furniture, books and more can be taken to a secondhand store and resold at a lower cost to someone in need. In the City of Fergus, goods can be donated to the BMF Fergus (525 Maple Street). This not-for-profit thrift store sends proceeds to support the Bible League of Canada. The store is a five-minute drive or a ten-minute bike ride from Aberdeen Apartments (91 Westminster Crescent).
The blog team at Williams and McDaniel hopes today’s post provides some extra motivation to start or continue recycling whenever possible. For more information about their Fergus apartments, visit their website today.
