It’s almost that time of year. You can feel the shift. There is a slight chill in the morning air, the leaves will soon begin to change. Very soon, it will be time to gather with friends and family in Fergus to give thanks and celebrate everything there is to be thankful for. The Williams and McDaniel blog team is here to help you raise a glass and toast to Thanksgiving with some great holiday cocktail ideas. Cheers!
Hard Cider Spritz
This Hard Cider Spritz is a great before dinner cocktail. Mix 4 ounces of hard cider with 1 ½ ounces of (soft) apple cider, ½ an ounce of rye, a ¼ ounce of Aperol and a ¼ ounce of lemon juice into a rocks glass and add the rocks. Stir in some club soda and toss in an apple slice. Don’t fret if you don’t have all of these ingredients lying around, or you run out of them due to overwhelming demand. You can substitute orange or grapefruit juice for lemon juice, and bourbon will do just fine if you are out of rye.
The Holiday Mule
The Holiday Mule is warm, spicy, sweet, tart and fragrant. It tastes like the holidays in a glass. You can choose to go with gin or vodka — whatever you or your guests prefer. Pour the spicy cocktail over ice and top it with ginger beer and garnish with orange. It’s almost too pretty to drink.
You can customize this Cranberry Gimlet to suit individual tastes. Use 100% cranberry juice and gin for a tart, bold flavour or go with cranberry cocktail and vodka for a lighter, sweeter feel. Either way, it’s the perfect opportunity to break out the martini glasses. Everything feels festive and elegant when you’re holding a martini glass.
Apple Ginger Sparklers
This Apple Ginger Sparkler is a delicious and spicy virgin cocktail for the minors, drivers and teetotallers at your table. It’s made from ginger syrup and sparkling apple cider. Garnish each glass with a cinnamon stick and crystallized ginger.
The Williams and McDaniel blog team hopes this post helps you, your friends and your family to responsibly raise a glass in thanks and in style this Thanksgiving.
